Acoustic insulation prediction softwares are based on empirical equations combined with characteristic acoustic models that are verified against laboratory measurements in accredited laboratories.
The algorithms take several parameters into account to calculate the sound insulation of building elements, like the internal loss factors and the critical frequencies of panels, the resonance frequency of cavities and the resonance frequency of impact boards for a floating floor system.
These softwares use to provide results of the Normalized Impact Sound Pressure Level (Ln) and Airborne Sound Reduction Index (R) in 1/3 octave bands. They also calculate the Weighted Normalised Impact Sound Pressure Level (Ln,w) and the Weighted Airborne Sound Reduction Index (Rw). These results are used in noise transfer calculations during the acoustic design and specification stage.
Acoulatis is an online calculation tool to predict sound insulation of ceilings, floors and walls specially focused on Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) structures. Insul, on the other hand, is less specialized calculation software that allows to perform calculations in structures of various materials.
Since the creation of the Akustik + Sylomer® range in 2005, AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® has developed more than 40 different product families.
Currently the Akustik 1 + Sylomer® acoustic hanger and the Akustik + Sylomer® Floor Mount are available in Acoulatis but more products are expected to be soon available.
The below screenshots shows the Akustik 1 + Sylomer® acoustic hanger and the Akustik + Sylomer ® Floor mounts in Acoulatis:
AMC MECANOCAUCHO® offers a wide product range of different types of Acoustic Hangers, Wall ties and Floor mounts for an elastic “box in box” construction. This allows the selection of proper product for very different construction types.

AMC MECANOCAUCHO® also offers the possibility to see impact and airborne noise test results with a simple click on www.akustik.com. You can find a solution that meets your requirements by selecting the proper filters in terms of type of structure and the target values of impact noise level or airborne noise reduction. Feel free to explore more than 100 tests at a glance at Akustik dB Finder!
